Fall Equinox Celebration Friday, September 21, 2018 7:PM pm at Middle Cove Beach

The Program Committee of the Mercy Centre for Ecology and Justice together with the Anglican, Catholic, and United Church Leaders invites you to join them in an Equinox Celebration of song, music, reflection and prayer to honour the beginning of fall. This event will focus on the blessings of the Four Elements – fire, air, soil and water – and will take place around a bonfire at Middle Cove Beach at 7:00 p.m., Fri. Sept. 21.   • Celebrate the Sedar Meal with MCEJ

The Mercy Centre for Ecology and Justice (MCEJ), 101 Mount Scio Road invites you to celebrate the Sedar Meal to be held on Wed., March 28, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

The Passover Seder is a commemoration of the Israelites’ deliverance from bondage in Egypt. In the Christian tradition the Passover Seder is also believed to be when Jesus instituted the Eucharist. Gathered around the supper table with his disciples, Jesus told them, “I have longed to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.”

  • Weekly Walks Around St. John’s Beautiful Waterways
    Wednesdays, May 30, 2018 to June 20, 2018
    7pm onwards

Join with the Mercy Centre for Ecology and Justice and walk some of St. John’s beautiful ponds and lakes. We will begin each walk with a short reflection on the place of water in our community and lives. Following each walk we will take a few minutes to share something we have noticed and wish to ensure is present for future generations to enjoy.  Come and bring your camera, walking shoes and walking sticks!

The walks will take place each Wednesday beginning at 7:00 pm:

May 30, 2018 – Mundy Pond beginning opposite the Mew’s Center

June 6, 2018 – Long Pond beginning at the Fluvarium

June 13, 2018 – Kent’s Pond beginning at the far eastern parking lot of the Confederation Building

June 20, 2018 – Quidi Viidi Lake beginning at the bridge near the eastern end of the Dominion parking lot.
