Guest Speaker: Rev. John McCarthy SJ

Scientist, author and Jesuit priest, John McCarthy SJ, was receipient of the 2002 Canadian Environment Awards Gold Medal (Lands and Forests category) for his work in boreal forest conservation in Newfoundland. He regularly speaks on the the subject of Christain fiath and ecology and publishes on lichenology as well as ecological theology and spirituality.  A new lichen has been named after him – Acarospora maccarthyi K. Knudsen & Kocourk.

 

TOWN HALL MEETING

You might have heard that For A New Earth with the support of MUN and St.Bon’s, is planning a Town Hall meeting on the 29 of November from 7:30-9:30, on the theme “What Is A Green Economy?” The event is designed to foster a greater dialogue among all interested parties and stakeholders concerned with the greening economy of NFLD and Labrador. It is intended to create greater public awareness of the social,political, and ecological complexity of renewable  energy and resource development of the province. We would love to see you there!
